Learnings from the East –
British Council China Roadshows

3 consecutive years of 10-day trips across China 2012, 2013, 2014. Creative Talks, Public Speaking and Workshops, UK Ambassador & Representative.

"Jon Cleave made his third trip to China in October 2014 with the British Council to lead a series of workshops aimed at building relationships with the country. Jon not only advised on how to improve creative education in China but also discussed how entire industries can learn from each other, touring Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and Ningbo. Prior to this, he was invited to collaborate with the British Council to host a China Roadshow, connecting young people with new skills and trades on 10 day tours involving creative and design workshops, public speaking events, press interviews, and TED-style talks with QQ and Tencent. The activities hosted were across China, from Chengdu, to Hangzhou, Beijing, Guangzhou and Qingdao and were all based on how creativity and design thinking improves society, while promoting the importance of strong ideas and effective communication. Audiences and participants ranged from 30 up to 500, with one college hosting over 6,500 students. He was also fortunate to meet members of government, such as the Mayor of Qingdao. The workshops gave the students a valuable insight into how the Western and design industry channels creativity from ideation through to execution".
